MIAMI—General contractor Moss Construction has delivered to the Temple Beth Am its new Day School. The expansion at the Temple Beth Am property will enable education for students from kindergarten on up through 5th grade.

The 80,747-square-foot expansion was designed by Perkins Eastman Architects, and has a total complement of 62 classrooms. In addition, the school features a media center, art studio, STEM lab as well as an outdoor learning area to take advantage of South Florida’s rather ample year-round sunshine and warm weather.

This past summer, Moss tore down three other buildings and removed an existing courtyard so that the site could be reconfigured for a future Welcome Center, which will be built as part of the second phase of work for Temple Beth Am. The Welcome Center will offer sporting facilities, auditoriums, cafeterias and a pool. When completed, the Welcome Center will effectively function as a bridge between the older facilities on the site and the new school.

“We are honored that Temple Beth Am chose Moss to complete this two-phase expansion project, which will provide students with an optimal environment for learning,” Moss Senior Vice President and Project Executive Ed Baro said in a recent statement. “We worked diligently throughout 2020 to ensure that the Day School was ready for the start of the 2021 school year.”

Moss also collaborated with real estate developer Amicon, the owner’s representative, to ensure that the facility would be ready for fall school classes.

Engineering News-Record has ranked Moss as one of the top 65 general contracting firms in the country. Moss provides construction management and design-build services not only for educational clients but also hospitality, sports and various other sectors.

PINECREST, Fla.—Moss Construction recently announced it has completed the new Day School at Temple Beth Am in Pinecrest.

Designed by Perkins Eastman Architects, D.P.C, the 80,747-square-foot expansion project has a total of 62 classrooms for Pre-K through Grade 5, and includes an Innovation lab, STEM lab, media center, state-of-the-art creative art studio, and an outdoor early learning space. Moss worked hand in hand with Amicon, who is the owner’s representative, to deliver the new school building for the 2021-2022 school year.

The project team and partners worked diligently throughout 2020 to ensure that the Day School was ready for the start of the 2021 school year,” said Moss Senior Vice President/Project Executive, Ed Baro.

In July Moss began demolition of three buildings and courtyard area to prepare the site for the Welcome Center, which is part of Phase 2. The Temple’s Welcome Center includes an indoor basketball court, auditorium, meetings rooms, pool and cafe. Once the Welcome Center and courtyard are complete, this central area will unite the new school building with the administrative and Temple thus completing the Temple’s expansion project.
